Maureen Tarbox was a Middle School Science teacher for 30 years at Blue Mountain Middle School in Montrose, NY. before settling in East Haddam with her husband Thomas. Maureen now had the time to develop a life long love of drawing and painting. The Lower Connecticut River Valley area provided many opportunities to become an artist.
She has many classes and workshops at the Lyme Art Association and was under the tutelage of Noel Belton for ten years learning to paint “en plein air”. She has taken week long workshops with Bivenne Steiger, Tony Couch and Dave Rogers. She traveled to Valencia Island, Ireland for a week of painting along the Ring of Kerry. Maureen belongs to the Essex Art Association, The East Haddam Art League and the Middlesex Art Guild. She paints weekly with The Brushstrokes , an en plein air group of oil painters, and a watercolor artist group in Middletown. The beautiful local scenery in the Connecticut River Valley is the subject of many of her paintings. Maureen paints realistically but is influenced by Impressionism. She works in both oils and watercolor. |
